“One of the greatest things a father can do for his children is love their mother.”

Howard H. Hunter

The best Father’s Day I could ask for was the year my first was born. Isabella Maria was born on Father’s Day in 2017 and for the first time since then, her birthday falls again on the date.

People would tell me, “It goes by fast, hold on to the moments.” It’s true. It’s only been six years, but wow, I remember first holding Izzy in my arms just after birth. The doctors took Ani away for a bit and I was handed Izz for some daddy-daughter time. It was a long while in the dark while she was bundled up, I just talked to her and snuggled in with my new baby girl. Just tonight, that same baby girl asked me to snuggle her as I tucked her in bed (following the piggy snorts in the ear much to the many little giggles).

Since then, we’ve had six more pregnancies, including the newest one on the way (high drama announcement in The Climb!). Raising kids is the fruit of our marriage and we’ve been blessed to participate in that co-creation. I know any proud dad would be able to share their own tales. If you’re a dad, take some time to reflect on your own journey as a father this week. If your dad is still with you, ask him to tell the story of fatherhood from his own eyes again and hear him.

Happy Father’s Day!
